Johannesburg, South Africa, was once a crime ridden city but has finally emerged from the depths of despair. The barren streets that were riddled with bullets are now filled with young African hipsters inspired to gentrify the area and construct a community for artists and designers. The failing textile industry is once again booming due to emerging designers' need for use of locally sourced fabrics, contributing to Africa's largest economy. The street style landscape, although hip, is also deeply Afrocentric with a propensity towards bright colors and patterns. This once painfully impoverished African capital has sprung up from the shadows and is now viewed as an international hub for fashion innovation and design inspiration.
Have a great weekend!
