Recap of Lucky FABB

Sunday, April 7, 2013

I am exhausted yet so thankful to have attended such an educational, collaborative and enjoyable conference this past week.  Here are some of the highlights I experienced at Lucky FABB:

Pink Pajamas by Rachel Rachel Roy:  I was hesitant to wear my pink silk pajamas to the first day of the conference because they make a bold statement, but I assured myself that fashion is all about self-expression, and hey I am a little quirky, so I went with my instinct and wore them.  Needless to say, I think they were a hit and I felt extremely comfortable throughout the day.

I'm a Star...well not really: Sherry from Covet approached me excitedly and said she reads my blog and requested a picture!  I didn't think anyone paid attention to my personal style musings, and her excitement and generosity meant the absolute world to me!

Riding the Elevator with Betsey Johnson (or BJ as she was endearingly referred to by Donna):  What a kick she is.  Vivacious, colorful, technologically aloof and a bit nervous, she is everything you would imagine her to be and more.  Somewhat unaware of her celebrity, she generously posed for pictures and spoke to us briefly about how she too becomes "insecure" when speaking in front of a large group of people.  I  love her vulnerability and honesty, especially on the heels of the bankruptcy filing and  rebranding of her namesake.

Drew Barrymore is the S**t:  Wow.  I was so impressed with Drew's ability to interact with a group of fashion enthusiasts as well as her openness to personally connect with us.  She held our opinion in the highest regard and spoke about the need for bloggers to assist brands in the marketing and promotion of their products. She seems unaffected by fame and spoke unabashedly about the trials and tribulations of her formative years.  She's a class act.

I WON: If you know me, you know I never win ANYTHING.  I have the worst luck, especially when it comes to contests, but fate was on my side this week.  AG Jeans was offering a complete outfit to winners of their Instagram contest....and one of my photos was selected as part of their giveaway.  I cannot wait to share with you the complete clothing details once I receive them from the fabulous ladies of AG.

Network Expanded: The most important part of the conference was the platform it gave us to connect with bloggers we may have admired from afar, but never were able to meet, brands we've long coveted, and industry professionals who provided us with an arsenal of knowledge.  I was re-inspired to push my potential limits, create networks, and never take any of these amazing opportunities for granted.

On that note, I just want to thank all of those who read my blog.  You give me the motivation to keep pursuing my ambitions.  I am eternally grateful!
